Mining Poetry by Joel Tankersley

Revenue-Virginius

He stood there alone,
he stood among friends.
All in life’s labyrinth,
in knots without ends.

The moment unfolded,
each second was new.
Doors in the moment,
no comment, no clue

He chose to go forward,
he chose to divide.
Out of due bounds,
open inside

He stepped to the moment,
he stepped into silence.
Away from the safety,
into the violence.

He searched the cold darkness,
called out his name
Darkness then opened,
out went life’s flame.

Mercy uncounted,
to search for another.
A miner with last breath,
to the aid of his brother.
