Fatal Gas Explosion in Pennsylvania Colliery

Mahanoy City, Nov. 9. -- One man was killed, five others probably fatally injured and 20 others more or less seriously injured by an explosion of gas at the Buck Mount Colliery two miles from here:

  • Edward Galligher
  • Charles Jones
  • Henry O’Bright
  • John G. McGlynn
As far as can be learned, the explosion was apparently due to Edward Gallagher going into an abandoned working place with a naked lamp which ignited the gas.
